Oftentimes we’re working in settings that are quite beautiful, but not necessarily conducive to teaching yoga, like tents on mountains that aren’t necessarily flat. How will the Austin Wanderlust Festival differ from other Wanderlust events? There’s a vibrant group of people in Austin into that sort of lifestyle. We’re shutting down part of the street, using an internal courtyard, studio and private event space to create an urban yoga festival … Part of the event is practicing yoga on a yoga mat, but we think of it as a lifestyle ideal and a way to live your life. People get into cars and leave their everyday lives behind and get into nature. Generally our events are destination focused. Since then we’ve been thinking creatively about what an urban festival could look like. In April 2012 we opened the Wanderlust Studio on Fourth Street in Austin. Since then, the multiday festival has multiplied, landing in beautiful resort villages across North America. The Wanderlust Festival, that funky mashup of yoga, music, organic food and mindful living, debuted in 2009 in the mountains of Squaw Valley, Calif.
